25 minutes!?

Fatum SG

the operating memory must be so choked full of spy ware and trojans to take 25 minutes ......

the Bear SG

25 minutes!?

yeah.. i'm not kidding..

i thought they were exaggerating when they said that.. then yesterday, it hung when we were trying to give a presentation..

so a reboot was in order.. we sent our audience out for refreshments early.. i stood there and waited for the accursed thing for 25 minutes before it was stable enough to open up a 12MB powerpoint file..

they have moved a new desktop in there.. not too bad.. a core 2 duo with 2GB RAM.. should be okay..

no man.. rarely plugged into the LAN.. and the LAN is so firewalled to hell and back it's ridiculous...

imagine.. a laptop with all its USB ports locked up..

thing is, the idiots who run the tech side has put in a load of shit in there.. a lot of things running like fingerprinting software and god knows what else...

on a Pentium M

with 256MB RAM

the Bear SG

keep your fingers crossed!

i don't think i need to..

brand new straight out of the box... not even plugged into the LAN yet... to be put there to run presentations only until they deliver a new laptop...

we're going to only be running that 12MB powerpoint presentation and playing 2 DVDs.. that's all.. should be fine

they should be tortured before they are shot...

and yes.. EVERYONE'S laptop is like that..

the others in our section experience that too.. but they're getting their new laptops right now as i type...

but i guess the new laptops with 2GB RAM and what i think are the new centrinos core 2 duos should be able to do the job

it will still take more than reasonable times to boot up. Their running to many nonsense protection on them. btw wait till SOE get in. Heard it'll be even worse

Morning.... thank God it's Friday!

Rhonda SG

Yeah! TGIF!! And good morning, all!

I'm soooo thankful that I've completed two awful looooong night shifts and I don't have to think about work again until Tuesday! Yippeeee!!

I think that's the way work was meant to be... give you adequate days off so that when you feel you're about to go postal and kill someone, you get swee-swee few days off work so by the time you return to work again, you feel you can face any crap that gets thrown your way. I wish instead of working people ragged, all of us can enjoy a more reasonable lifestyle.

Rhonda SG

Honeymousey, hearing you talk about your possum sounded like you were describing me leh... territorial, hard to get rid of, sometimes a bit cute but also very frustrating, stubborn ... I'm quite a possum...

honeymouse SG

Morning missy........ *hugz*

Rhonda SG

av, I read that article you posted from another link... I felt really sad reading it. Didn't realise the situation in Singapore has become THAT bad.

Rhonda SG

Morning missy........ *hugz*

av98m SG

Here's a pic to start the day :

U.S. Republican presidential nominee Senator John McCain (R-AZ) reacts to almost heading the wrong way off the stage after shaking hands with Democratic presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) at the conclusion of the final presidential debate at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, Oct. 15, 2008.
